Virtual Physiotherapy Appointment in Saskatchewan
Virtual physiotherapy lets you connect one-on-one with a physiotherapist from home, work, or wherever you are in Saskatchewan.
If you’re dealing with pain, stiffness, or an injury but can’t easily make it into the clinic, online sessions can still give you:
A clear understanding of what’s going on
A plan to start moving in the right direction
Guided exercises and progressions tailored to your space and equipment
At Vigour Physiotherapy, virtual sessions are real physiotherapy appointments—just delivered through secure video instead of in person.

What is Virtual Physiotherapy?
Virtual physiotherapy (also called telehealth or online physiotherapy) is a video-based appointment where we:
Talk through your symptoms, history, and goals
Watch how you move using simple movement tests
Guide you through self-assessment and self-treatment strategies
Build an exercise and mobility plan that fits your environment and equipment
Adjust your plan over time based on your progress
You’ll get the same attention to detail, education, and active approach as an in-person visit—just without the commute.
Note: At this time, virtual physiotherapy is available to residents of Saskatchewan only.
Appointments for residents outside of Saskatchewan are possible but not billable as physiotherapy.
What Can Virtual Physiotherapy Help With?
Virtual sessions work well for many concerns, including:
Back and neck pain (including office/postural pain)
Shoulder, hip, knee, or ankle pain
Overuse and training-related injuries
Persistent or chronic pain
Mobility limitations and stiffness
Movement coaching for lifting, running, or sport
Rehabilitation progressions after an initial in-person assessment
Ongoing check-ins to update your exercise and strength program
If you’re unsure whether your situation is appropriate for virtual care, we can help you decide.
What to Expect At Your First Virtual Visit
A virtual physiotherapy assessment will typically include:
Conversation and goal setting
We’ll talk about what’s going on, what you’ve tried so far, and what you’d like to be able to do again.
Medical and injury history
We’ll review your past injuries, relevant medical history, and any imaging or reports you may have.
Movement and function assessment
Using your camera, we’ll look at how you move—sitting, standing, walking, squatting, reaching, or other movements relevant to your symptoms and activities.
Self-assessment and symptom testing
You may be guided through simple self-tests (e.g., pressing on an area, moving a joint a certain way) to help narrow down what’s contributing to your symptoms.
Clear explanation of findings
You’ll get a straightforward explanation of what we think is going on, why it might be happening, and what we can do about it.
Exercise and self-treatment plan
You’ll leave the session with a starting plan that may include mobility work, strength exercises, pacing strategies, and practical modifications for your day-to-day activities.
Follow-up plan
We’ll discuss how often to follow up, how to track your progress, and when it might be helpful to transition to in-person care (if needed).
You’ll receive your exercises and instructions in a way that’s easy to reference between sessions.
All virtual sessions are provided by Nick Allard, MPT, a Saskatoon Physiotherapist with a strong focus on active rehab and mobility.
What Your Virtual Treatment May Include
Depending on your assessment and goals, virtual physiotherapy may include:
Targeted exercise-based rehab (strength, mobility, control)
Guided mobility and stretching routines specific to your joints and movements
Education about pain, injury, and recovery
Coaching on how to modify activities at work, home, or in the gym
Progressions and regressions so exercises stay appropriately challenging
Running or lifting technique review (within what can be seen on video)
Planning around training volume and recovery
While we can’t provide hands-on treatment virtually, we can often teach you effective self-treatment strategies and build a plan that moves you forward.
Who is Virtual Physiotherapy For?
Virtual physiotherapy can be a great option if you:
Live outside Saskatoon or in a rural area and don’t want to travel
Have a busy schedule and prefer to be seen from home or work
Have childcare or mobility constraints that make in-person visits difficult
Prefer to focus on exercise, movement, and education-based care
Want ongoing follow-ups after an in-person assessment
Feel more comfortable starting care from your own space
It may not be ideal as a first step if you:
Have a sudden, severe loss of strength or sensation
Have significant red-flag symptoms (e.g., major trauma, unexplained weight loss, changes in bladder/bowel function, etc.)
Require a hands-on examination to rule out serious issues
If anything concerning comes up in our discussion, we’ll talk about whether in-person assessment or medical follow-up is more appropriate.
What You Need for a Virtual Session
You don’t need a fancy setup. A typical virtual appointment works well with:
A phone, tablet, or laptop with a camera and microphone
A stable internet connection
Enough space to stand, step, and lie down comfortably
Comfortable clothing you can move in
Any equipment you have handy (e.g., a chair, towel, band, light weights, foam roller)
We’ll work with whatever you have available and adjust exercises to your space.
Virtual Physiotherapy + In-Person Care
In many cases, virtual visits can be:
A starting point when getting to the clinic is tough
A way to continue care if you’re travelling or your schedule changes
A useful bridge between in-person sessions to keep your plan progressing
If at any point we feel that an in-person assessment would provide important additional information or options (e.g., hands-on testing, dry needling/IMS), we’ll discuss that with you and help coordinate next steps.
